DSD Secondary Program Awarded for Increase in DCAS Scores!

Above: Members of DSD's Freshmen and Sophomore classes

On November 12, 2013, the School Board of the Christina School District awarded the Delaware School for the Deaf Secondary Program for    "Academic Excellence".  The award was given based on an increase in students' performance on the 2012-2013 DCAS (Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System).  When asked to identify factors that led to the increase in performance, School Leader Marianne Belsky stated "Our success is based on a few factors:  Our staff consistently reinforced to students that they could and would meet their target scores. Students were individually celebrated for each growth in scores. Most importantly, however is the students' progress in becoming balanced bilingual (ASL/English) young adults."

Delaware Statewide Programs congratulates DSD on this important achievement!
